What We Provide

Permanent Traffic Sign Manufacturing & Installation

Streetwise offers end-to-end support for permanent road sign deployment. We manage material fabrication, reflective sheeting selection, and physical field installation, ensuring every asset meets strict local, state, and federal highway specifications.

Why Streetwise?

The Right Road Sign. Every Time.

Certified Material Quality

We use premium aluminum blanks and industry-standard retroreflective sheeting to guarantee your signs remain highly visible at night and resist fading under intense UV exposure. Our structural sign posts are built to survive harsh Midwestern weather and vehicular impacts.

Strict MUTCD Compliance

Traffic signage is heavily litigated, which is why we leave nothing to chance. Every stop sign, speed limit indicator, and warning symbol we provide strictly adheres to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) size, font, color, and reflectivity standards.

Professional Field Installation

Don’t waste internal labor hours digging post holes or wrestling with mounting hardware. Our field crews are fully equipped with specialized trucks and pneumatic driving equipment to rapidly plant sign posts in concrete, soil, or asphalt, ensuring perfect height and breakaway compliance.

How It Works

Simple Process With Professional Results

From reviewing your engineering plan’s sign schedule to driving the final anchor, Streetwise manages the logistics, manufacturing, and field labor so your property or roadway remains safe and legally compliant.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions About Permanent Road Signs

Have a question not answered here? Call us—we’re always happy to talk through your project needs.

Sign reflectivity is broken down into three primary levels:

  • Engineer Grade: Least reflective, typically used for non-critical commercial properties.
  • High-Intensity Prismatic (HIP): Highly reflective, standard for municipal roads and regulatory signs.
  • Diamond Grade: Maximum reflectivity, mandatory for high-speed highways and critical pedestrian crossings.

Selecting the right grade ensures your signs remain safely visible at night and comply with state and federal laws.

Federal and state DOT standards mandate that any sign posts located within the roadside “clear zone” (areas where a vehicle could run off the road) must be crashworthy. Breakaway bases are designed to shear off cleanly at ground level upon impact. This prevents the post from acting as a rigid spear or stopping a vehicle instantly, drastically reducing the risk of motorist injury.

According to the MUTCD, the standard mounting height for a permanent roadside sign in rural areas is 5 feet from the bottom of the sign to the elevation of the near edge of the pavement. In urban districts, business zones, or areas with pedestrian traffic and parking restrictions, the minimum mounting height is 7 feet to ensure the sign isn’t blocked by vehicles or pedestrians.

If a sign must be placed where concrete or asphalt is already poured, our field crews use specialized core drilling equipment. We drill a clean, precise hole through the hard surface, drive the steel sleeve anchor into the structural soil beneath, and then patch or seal the perimeter neatly, ensuring a rock-solid foundation without damaging the surrounding sidewalk.
